+ 15 Mike Howell has two good bits in the Courier. 1. The City is hiring both a Police Chief and a Sustainability Boss. The Sustainability boss requires a degree, “preferably at the post-graduate level.” The Chief should be a secondary school graduate. 2. The City wants to turn the parking lot next to the Queen E. into a giant, live space for entertainment and cultural events. Also for a big TV to watch the Par/Olympics. [12th & Main]

- 5 Chinatown too expensive to renovate, say building owners. Don’t worry. It’s called blockbusting. The point is to make you feel grateful when you sell your heritage building for the tax bill. The new owners will find the cash to renovate it into $500,000 condos somehow.

- 5 A former campaign manager of the federal Green Party has filed suit in Vancouver against Google, Wikipedia, and openpolitics.ca. Wayne Crookes is suing the organisations for facilitating libels against him. You did not read this here.
