Unemployed former newspaper tyrant Conrad Black, currently on bail from a Chicago court on charges of misappropriating $85 million US from Hollinger International, is spending $200,000 monthly on his living expenses, including $9,000 a month on gardening. Black, like many of his staffers soon after he bought his newspapers, is unemployed.
“How is he paying those? Where is the money coming from?” [Judge Amy ] St. Eve asked Black’s lawyer, Ed Genson. “You know where I’m going. Is there something else out there?”
