AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

By Adam Thomas

Friday November 9, 2007

Proving once again the world is smaller and more complicated than ever before, this year’s festival features over 21 films from around the world covering topics ranging from African poverty and civil war to the struggle of third world laborers to the dangerous political fallout facing countries like Burma and Belarus as they struggle to redefine themselves in the face of a changing global economy.

So while this is no Grindhouse double feature, (though there are some actual double bills on Sunday) going to see some of these movies will make you look smart and aware…or at the very least like you care. And for most people those are good qualities, ‘cause there ain’t nothing less sexy than ignorance.

Complete schedule here

The Festival runs from Friday November 9th until Sunday, November 11th at the Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour St)
