Self Release
These kids are a great addition to Vancouver music. They’ve digested their influences well, seamlessly combining post-hardcore, free jazz, and pop into a impressive first release. Too bad these songs have no kick to them. They’re neither hard or different enough to pull in the most casual of hardcore/experimental listener, nor are they poppy enough to fool even mall punks into a second listen. Maybe their minimal 3-piece set up is to blame. Maybe it’s their vocals that are about 10 years too late. Maybe, just maybe, their laughable artwork skewed my perspective a little. Regardless, these guys are clearly talented and this 3 song EP definitely warrants the city’s attention. Just not yet.
