Sorority Pillow Fight

The one-venue blues

Raised By Wolves play with James T Kirks and China Creeps at the Pub 340 on February 15. The ‘T Kirks come from Edmonton, a city where beards mean something completely different than they do in Vancouver.

The Riff Randells showcase their 82nd bass player, the lovely Bianca, on the 16th at the 340 with Tranzmitors and Fucked Up.

Also that night: something for the kids. Pop and punk come together to form–no, not pop-punk again–but an all-ages show at Video In. It’s a video premiere party for Junior Major, with the People Verses, Japandroids, Canaries and Cheerleader Camp.

Those li’l Cheerleader Campers will get a healthy dose of GHB from the Railway girls when they play with the Doers, Collapsing Opposites, Ghost House and Ok Vancouver Ok on the 23rd. The poster for this show is amazing. It tells the story of the time Sean Maxey tried to give Jen Deon a pedicure.

If you like sad, happy and sappy acoustic country with a softcore porn accompaniment, hit Pub 340 (you guys really should be advertising with us) on the 21st. You’ll get Johnny Wakeham, Ronnie Olson and a bunch of others, plus the bartender’s favourite sorority pillow fight on the pub’s TVs.

The 22nd splits us between tons of noise at the 340 (Griefer, The Rita, Sistrenatus, Brutophilia, Coastal, Flat Grey, Sick Buildings plus others) and Nels Cline and Glenn Kotche at Richard’s.

After an intense night either way, you may feel the need to relax on the 23rd at Radha Yoga & Eatery, where the Wind Whistles will be playing.

And then it’s back to the 340 (this venue shortage is making life so predictable) for A Frames, Modern Creatures, and Shearing Pinx on the 24th.

On the 28th, Sex Negatives play their first non-Emergency Room show with Hybrids Of Various Mistakes, Totally Ripped and Botox Sharpei for Fake Jazz at the Cobalt. Still the cheapest show in town.
