Alphaville (1965) is, in our considerable opinion one of Godard’s best, and that says a lot. A black and white science fiction story it’s an eerie mix of Kafka and 1984; a kind of film noir set in some hardboiled PKD kind of future. It’s funny, dark, ahead of its time and forever of a time that only exists in movies.
