MAN ART
Ok! So Sean Maxey (of Doers fame) goes on tour last fall and makes a bunch of drawings of men doing manly things, for men, with men, about men, beside men, in front of men and behind men. We assure you that none of this is fag-rotic. Not that we have a problem with cocks in our mouths. We just feel a certain need to be accurate about this stuff, you know? No, this is the kind of manliness that would inspire someone to say, “well, you just killed the hell out of that guy” in a certain manly drawl. At least that’s what we think. Actually we have no fucking idea. It just all sounds really great. There’s gonna be booze and music provided by a cast of Maxey minions: Sarah Jane Truman, Joel Tong, Ora Cogan, I Make Earthquakes, Adrian Teacher, Marissa Johnson, Mr. Plow, Barry Higginson, Eli Leary, Ryan Walter Wagner, Shawn Mrazek, and Collapsing Opposites Nothing original, just cover tunes.

It’s all called Sean Maxey Up Your Bench. Sounds gay to us.

Little Mountain Studios – 195 East 26th Ave at Main 8pm.

MUSIC
The verdict is still out on whether or not the newly remodeled Biltmore Cabaret is cool. Only a handful of us have patronized the place so far, and the reports were very luke. “Lounge-vibe” was the term that seemed to get tossed around the most. Obviously that was scary, but not nearly as scary as the description that the founders have concocted: “New Orleans Gothic Bordello style Rock Club and a Shanghai 1940’s Show Lounge come together for a modern fusion of Cabaret.” Well, if that doesn’t sound like the hippest venue ever, it’s hard to imagine what does. The ironic part about all of this is that however horrific the new Biltmore may sound, it somehow seems like the perfect atmosphere to experience a live performance by Robert Dayton’s band Hallmark. We promise that no matter how back-handed that may come across, it’s not a jab. If you know anything about Dayton (and contrary to recent speculation we do) you understand.

Hallmark play with Sun Arise tonight at the Biltmore Cabaret.
