The View and the N-Word

I don’t really know what to say about the N-word. I like to use it a lot, but usually in an ironic context and definitely only around my white friends. I wish that instead of making an album about it, Nas had just made a basic pocket guide to who can/should use it, when it’s OK to use it, and why. Like, can two black guys on TV talking about using the N-word use the N-word? Apparently not. But whatever. This clip from The View is so priceless. Not because Elisabeth Hasselbeck starts crying (I think she’s hot and almost always agree with her) but because Whoopi Goldberg gets all high and mighty about her ability to use the N-word, and can’t come remotely close to explaining why. That part is fun, but then the absolute BEST part is when Whoopi falls back on her ‘my mom couldn’t vote when I was a kid’ roots to explain why she, the co-host of the very same daytime talk show as Elisabeth , somehow lives in a ‘different world’ than her. I’m not going to delve very much further into this, because, you know, racism, but Whoopi Goldberg fucked Ted Danson and and owns of a 745-acre horse farm in rural Vermont. I really don’t think she should be dropping very many N bombs.
