WestEnder owner buys US daily, fires 25% of reporters

Very strange this had no coverage in Vancouver. Black Press owner David Black, proprietor of such titles as the WestEnder and North Shore Outlook, bought the Akron Beacon Journal –and immediately culled the editorial staff.

“I don’t really believe that quality of a newspaper is a direct function of body count in the newsroom,” said Black. “I walk through way too many newsrooms where I see people just talking or looking on the Internet and having fun.” [VIA] [Story Here]
